Hey everyone. It's been a long time since my last journal, in which I talked about the game I was working on, a Visual Novel.
Recently I've been experimenting with RPG Maker VX Ace Lite, which is a free engine for making retro style JRPG's. The thought occurred to me that story I wrote up might be better suited as an Roleplay Game rather then a VN. Right now though, I feel like if I switched over to making this an RPG it's going to take longer to make it then it would be if I stuck to a VN. A VN would take a lot less work, but I also really like the idea of the story as an RPG. So I'm kinda torn between those two.
Working with the engine, I do feel like I'm making a lot more progress with what I want to do over if I just focused purely on writing. At the same time, it's a whole new discipline to learn, and right after I just started to scratch the surface of using Ren'Py.
What do you guys think? Should my game be an RPG or a VN?

Is there a way to filter out the A.I. art?
Seriously. This is a problem. I want to see art made by actual people.
I wish I could get back into drawing.
I wish I could get back into drawing, I've got ideas for stuff I want to draw. The problem is, I don't have any drive or motivation for it. It's like I don't even want to draw anymore. It sucks.
Quick thoughts on 'Cancel Culture'
#CancelCulture came up on Twitter again recently and I felt like giving my two cents. If someone made mistakes, but legit wants to apologize and be better, then I believe they should be FORGIVEN. "Cancelling" someone should ONLY be used if they continue making the same terrible choices, insist that they did nothing wrong, and refuse to be better. While 'canceling' someone can be helpful in certain situations, (like with our former president Trump, for example,) immediately jumping on canceling someone based off a single impression, in my opinion, is just jumping on the bandwagon and is NOT helpful to society. If someone did terrible shit in the past, but has proven to regret the things they did/said back then and has done plenty of good stuff since then they should be forgiven. Keep in mind, FORGIVING SOMEONE DOES NOT HAVE TO CONDONE WHAT THEY DID, it simply means giving them a chance to redeem themselves. The problem is that too often, 'Cancel Culture' kind of has an itchy trigger
Legend of Link Fan Film rediscovered!
Hey everyone. I don't really spend as much time on DeviantArt as I used to, but today is a special occasion. Longtime watchers who have been following me since the beginning of my time here might remember that back in the mid-to-late 2000's I was obsessed with a certain Zelda Fan Film called "Legend of Link" that was originally uploaded to Google Video in 2005. Apart from re-uploading the movie to YouTube where it gained a wider cult following, I was even able to get in contact with the creators of the film and even served as a moderator on their forums for awhile! The director, Danny Sammons Jr. eventually reuploaded the entire movie in parts to his own YouTube Channel. However, over time, YouTube struck down several parts due to their use of copyrighted music. Sammons has been radio silent for years regarding the possibility of reuploading those parts, so it seemed like they might be wiped forever. I've had people asking me themselves if I had it, but sadly, I couldn't find

Is there a way to combine elements of both genres? That might be interesting...
