Last night I suddenly got the urge to start drawing again. And I ended up with quite possibly the most detailed picture I've drawn of a character.
I've been thinking latley about the way my character designs look against other people's. If I'm going to blaze past my classmates in order to secure a job in Game Design, I really need to start pushing things like the amount of detail in my work. I need to start spending more time with a single image and make it look awesome. I gotta use more refrences so that my work looks more proffesional.
I think so far I've been trying to keep my character designs simple enough that it's easy to replicate them over and over again, but the fact of the matter is, I'm in Game Design, and when it comes to 3D work, most 2D stuff involved only needs to be drawn once or twice and then gets replicated multiple times anyway, so you have to make it spectacular.
Basically, the details have to have their own details, and those sub-details have got details of their own. I think...
So, here's Kirk, with a much more detailed outfit. And now, a much deeper, revised story as well. I've been concerned latley that he's ended up as a "Mary-Sue" type character, so I've decided to stain him up a bit and make him more complex...

Kirk, hailing from Tarney Village. Scholar, Knight of the Arcturian Republic, a hero to the people, heir to Saint Zavier.
And above all, controversial.
A strong sense of justice like his is always considered noble, however the descisions kirk has made during war has generated many criticisms, the most argued-over being his descision regaurding the small village of Tunsla, within the kingdom of Halcyon.
Tunsla was a key strategic point during the Arcturus/Halcyon conflicts. It was a major part of the supply route and a place where many wounded Halcynian troops were sent to rest and heal. A peaceful hamlet populated with many innocent civilians.
Kirk had been ordered to destroy the town. If they took Tunsla, victory would be assured for Arcturus and the war would be over in a matter of weeks.
Kirk deliberatley disobeyed his orders and chose to spare Tunsla. He would not allow the slaughtering of innocents, by his hand or any of his men's.
The repreccussions of his descision were quick and severe. The next day half of the party he was in command of were decimated by Halcynian troops.
When he returned home, the families of the fallen cried out to him.
"You put our sons to death! Why did you not destroy them in order to save us?!"
To which he responded,
"If I had, it would have been their families crying for their sons. Which is more noble? To sacrifice one's life preserving morality, or to set it aside to save oneself?"
Is he a Sinner or is he a Saint? It's a debate that will forever follow him...

Forgive me for double-posting, but I forgot to mention that I love his sword! Very creative, and well designed blade, my friend.

Eh, I'm actually not 100% satisfied with the design of the sword yet, I may end up modifying it again sometime...

Just because you are unique does not make you useful.
